Oklahoma Entrepreneur Finds Fit with BCD

A year after striking out on her own, Suzi Clark has a loyal clientele and the satisfaction of being her own boss in an industry she enjoys and in a setting she has designed to fit the needs of her family and her customers.

Clark used the services of Business Center Development (BCD) to establish her packing, shipping and more store, Mail This! Copy That!, in Owassa, Okla.

"Being able to combine proven products and services with items specific to our local market give us a special edge you can't get if you're locked into offering only what the big franchise says you can"

True to its name, the most profitable services at her shop have been shipping and copying, Clark says, but she also has found a steady interest in the candles, sauces, cards, gift baskets other "unique and fun" specialty items she stocks, including products specific to the Tulsa area.

"Being able to combine proven products and services with items specific to our local market give us a special edge you can't get if you're locked into offering only what the big franchise says you can," Clark says.

Her customers also have proved to be as diverse as her products and services, she says, citing the marketing help she receives from BCD with helping her to target and reach them.

"We get a lot of business for our personal things like cards and gifts, mostly from stay-at-home moms and female retirees, and then we also do a lot of business with attorneys, pharmaceutical sales people and environmental services," Clark says. Her local schools "use us a lot, too, for things they need for sporting events, banquets and other activities."

"We have the range of business products, specialty items and the basic mailing and copying services everyone needs, and we're able to provide that with attentiveness, knowledge and the willingness to go the extra mile for our customer," she says.

Clark credits BCD as a "key partner in our success."

"I own my own business. I chose my own name and I decided what to sell and offer, but I had the training support and still get the marketing help I need make this all happen and keep happening," she says.

"I'm my own boss, in my own store, with an initial investment that fit my budget and the personal encouragement and professional services of a valued partner in BCD."
